Merry has been sewing since she was nine years old. She taught sewing and worked doing alterations for a major department store but now sews only when she wishes. Merry chooses exquisite color combinations and/or themes because she feels that putting the colors together is the most rewarding part of the process.
She tries to represent the island “mood” with her designs and colors.
She likes to start with natural materials such as wool, cotton, bamboo and linen, often adding other found objects from nature like birds feathers and sea glass, turning them into wearable or decorative pieces. Merry’s warm knitted and felted hats, fingerless gloves and quilted items are always to be found in our gallery.
