Originally from Singapore, Sharon island-hopped to Orcas in 2012 with her family, after working in media communications in Asia for almost 2 decades. Her plan was to stay a year to spend time with family here and to enjoy the island’s pace.
She found herself using clay as the medium through which to observe a new place and express her curiosity for living immersed in nature. Sharon first picked up ceramics as a hobby after having her first child. Now, ceramics is a way to make little abstracts of this wondrous landscape.
In 2014, she co-founded the Felt + Ceramics Studio|Shop in Eastsound with a fiber artist. Choosing to hand build, her practice is slow and contemplative. Each piece of jewelry is carefully carved and detailed. The calm she feels is imbued in her work and she hopes her tactile pieces are held and enjoyed by the wearers.
