Rita McKinney

I was born into a Montana homestead family and moved to Orcas Island in 1986. During the intervening years I received my formal training (BFA with honors from the University of Montana), and continued to explore and develop my craft.

Some of my experiences directly related to my art are:
-studied the history of art in Europe in 1970
-travelled to China in 1986 to study sumi painting
-worked on location in Mexico in 1997
-won awards for my art in Montana and Washington states
-displayed my work both in group and individual shows throughout the 1990′s
-have completed commissioned work for both public and private collections
-during 20 years as an Art teacher I’ve refined my skills in working with all media, and with all age groups.
