As a young child, I discovered I loved the feel of the smooth wet clay, when digging in the dirt in the back yard.
Many years later, a friend dragged me to a pottery show where I was mesmerized by a potter working on the wheel. I knew I had to learn how to do this, so I started taking classes when I could find them, through adult education programs.
In the early 80′s my husband’s job sent us to California. At the time, the City of Concord had an amazing program of art classes and an absolutely fabulous pottery studio. This is where I was able to really hone my skills and learn about mixing glazes and firing techniques.
My husband and I fell in love with Orcas Island in the mid 90′s. We moved here permanently in 2003 and subsequently built a house and pottery studio.
I really enjoy doing pottery. My work is mostly functional and each piece is unique in its own way. I look at it as “functional art”.
